This one is for you Ruth, you truly are a Scottish princess. Against all odds, you conceived a child, your health improved and now your precious baby is due any day now. God is so good!

It was so lovely to catch up with the Peacock Family again, we first met a few years ago, when they had their Family Portraits taken in Kuipto Forest. This time we met at the Onkaparinga Pingle Farm walking track and mixed it up a bit from their last photo shoot. It had rained on and off all day but we braved the cold wintry day and got some sunshine in between the clouds. The kids loved being out for a bit of a walk, some nerf gun and stick wars and a few photo’s in between. It was so fun and relaxing, the kids had a blast. I think the photo’s tell the story for themselves. Want to book a Family Session Click here

Recognise these two lovely people? I went to Northern Ireland to capture their wedding. Well we decided the family farm would be the perfect spot to take a few photos to celebrate their 1st Wedding Anniversary! Enjoy the gorgeousness!

Meet the very beautiful Emalene! We had so much fun one windy afternoon at Serafino’s Winery in McLaren Vale taking portraits for Emalene. If you are going to a Formal this year, and going to a big effort to look amazing, why not get some beautiful portraits taken taken of you all dressed up and pretty to treasure forever.

Max and Naomi love the beach so much that it was only fitting that we take their Maternity Photo session at Maslins beach, their favourite place. It was just days after this that their little baby girl was born, she was in such a hurry she came early. Can you guess what they named her? It’s the name of another beach they also love Moana. Pretty sure she will also be a beach lover!

These boys love the outdoors and have an amazing front paddock for a yard. So we decided it would be the perfect place for some Family photos as they have only ever had studio photos in the past. I think you can tell which they prefer by their expressions, don’t you?

If you’re like most people, you’ve thought about family portrait photography but you just haven’t got around to it. Life got too busy, need to have my hair done, roots are showing, when I lose a few more kilos, it’s hard to get everyone together… I have heard it all before, many times. Sadly enough, it just never happens.
Here are three solid reasons family portrait photography should be an important part of your life.
1. Document Growth
All too often we forget about the now because we are so busy building our futures. Our children grow up too fast! In the blink of an eye they are packing their bags and going off to university or college. Just like that the days of the little pitter-patters of feet walking toward the bedroom door to wake us up in the early hours of the morning are gone never to return.
When the children are young, having a portrait of the family done each year is a great way to document their stages and progress during the early years. As children grow up they find their own lives and move away. The days when the family all stayed within a few kilometres of each other are not always guaranteed, due to jobs, study, travel etc. Take advantage of the time you have together while you have it by having family pictures taken by a professional photographer. It’s a sweet reminder of life together.
2. Life Happens
We may not want to admit it but our family circle can change without warning and loved ones may pass on. There’s no reason to squander the opportunity to capture life together now. You never know when that last chance for a family photo will come. Like when my grandparents passed away, we never did get around to having a generational family portrait taken, not even one of them by themselves. I hear of many tragic stories of loved ones dying suddenly and I can guarantee you every photo they ever had taken with them turns extremely valuable overnight.
Pictures in general bring us back in time. Take this picture for example. It was taken on our family Summer holidays a few years ago. Our youngest boy Will was really into wearing caps, as you can see in the photo and Nick was just starting to grow his hair longer, look at his head of curls. We will never forget all the beautiful parrots that came so close to the boys to be hand fed. A precious memory worth keeping, but to be honest if I had not taken the photo, I probably would have forgotten all about those little details of the boys.
Family pictures, or portraits have that same power. They bring us back in time. They’re a great way to reminisce. They are also a part of our heritage. In years to come, grandchildren and great-grandchildren may someday ask to see pictures of the family, and wouldn’t it just be sad if there were few or none to share? Having the pictures in print brings the family together again as they look back on their lives.
Don’t let life pass you by and look back, wondering why you didn’t take the time to have family pictures taken. Don’t make excuses or put it off any longer. You can’t go back in time and recapture it, so avoid setting yourself up for an “I wish” situation.
If you’ve been thinking about having a family portrait taken, do it. Do it for your children. Your children won’t notice the need for a haircut or roots to be touched up, a few extra kilo’s, a smile line or even a fading tan, but we guarantee they will be disappointed when they are older and there are no family photos to share with their children.
My approach to Family Portrait sessions are done in a very relaxed and fun way to capture real moments of your family interacting with each other. The families I work with want natural images with true personality and family connection bursting right out of them. My families want to look at their finished images and say, ‘Yes, these just sum us up perfectly!’

I absolutely love engagement images of my brides and grooms! The photos really capture that engagement “glow” of both of you and what better way to enjoy this engaged time in your life than with beautiful pictures!
Here are my top 5 reasons why I feel like you would be so happy you decided to do an engagement shoot with your fiance….
1. Get to know your photographer before your wedding day
Doing an engagement shoot is an excellent way to get to know your photographer better and get in some practise in front of the camera for you and your fiance. This will break the ice building your relationship with your photographer and become a little bit more comfortable in front of the lens. Spend the afternoon/evening together and go grab a bite to eat afterwards. On your wedding day, it will be like you have a really great friend photographing your wedding and it will make your day so much more enjoyable and fun!
2. Photo for your Save the Date Cards
A lot of my brides love to have a special picture taken for their Save the Date cards. Of course the purpose of the cards is so your guests can be aware of your wedding date coming up and can make the proper travel arrangements or save your wedding date on their calendar, but the photos taken for these cards can be used again on your wedding day displayed on your guest sign in table, cake table, a sweet mantle or even your favor table or head table. It’s just a nice touch and adds so much of your own personality to your wedding day.
3. A Change of Season
This is a great opportunity to have some photos taken of you and your fiance in a completely different setting than your wedding day. If you are having a Summer wedding day where the location outside may be a lot dryer and more arid, make use of Winter or Spring of the year or season before your wedding to have a completely different feel to your engagement photos. An Autumn wedding day will surely be full of rich color so maybe shoot some engagement pictures during the Summer time at the beach! A few different outfits for both you and your fiance can change it up from casual to very formal or anything in between. Get creative and fun with your engagement session and really pull your personality into this.
4. Get to know your best side
Often times during your engagement session your photographer will get to know what angles and poses work best for you and your fiance. This is a great opportunity to communicate with your photographer what you do and do not like when taking pictures and what your photographer may want to be mindful of on your wedding day. This is also a great opportunity to do a trial run on hair and make up, especially if you have never had your hair and make up done before. You may not want to do the exact hair style and make up you will wear on your wedding day but certainly get an idea of the stylist and artist you might want to use and try them out! Once you do see your finished engagement photos you will get so excited about your wedding day pictures and all the excitement yet to come! Yay!
5. Enjoy the excitement of being engaged
Whether you have just got engaged or you have been engaged a year and are just now starting to plan your wedding day, an engagement session is a time when you can really really just enjoy each other and this special time of being engaged! Your photographer will start out with a few shots just to warm you up in front of the camera, then once you get more and more comfortable in front of the lens, you relax and start to enjoy the moment together. This is where your love is captured and the real magic happens and we want to see this!!

It was so lovely to catch up with the Martin Family at Kuipto Forest and see their newest little addition to their family. Three beautiful little girls, each with their own personalities. It always amazes me how different our children can be from each other in character and yet we are tied by the same golden thread that is called Family. Thanks for the honour of capturing your some more memories for you Stacey and Todd! 🙂

It was a windy night, but that didn’t stop Max and Naomi from having some fun at their engagement photo session. We went on a little adventure to a private cove, it was just amazing. A bit like Max and Naomi’s whirl wind romance, full of fun and adventure. Pretty sure these two will have many more adventure’s in their journey together!

Meet the Wade Family. When I drove up their driveway to meet them for the first time I was greeted by all three of the Wade children. They were so friendly, outgoing and full of life. I would call them the crazy fun kind of kids, you know the type… free and adventurous! I loved every second of their photo session, they had me on my toes but I think I captured their personalities perfectly! We all had so much fun, wandering around their property and finding their secret garden. I hope you enjoy some of the highlights. Deb x
